The Zen of Wile E. Coyote

May 1, 2005

While in Zoobic, we saw ostriches and I told Maxie that the Road Runner is an ostrich.  When I asked her about Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, here's what she had to say:

"Wile E. Coyote tries to catch the Road Runner but in the end, he ends up catching himself."

Isn't she a genius?

Jeremy Walks!

There's something about walking, Maxie, Jeremy and carpeting.  It must be the need for something soft to land on.  After all, falling down is hard on either the knees or the butt — even one with a diaper.

Maxie started walking in the carpeted floors of the Legal Deparment of the Far East Bank Center along Buendia.  Mommy's boss, Atty. Rudy Fernandez (who looks nothing like Daboy!), let Maxie visit so often, she was practically the mascot of the deparment.

For his part, Jeremy had us waiting for him to walk since his first birthday.  He's always been afraid of walking on hard floors.  It wasn't until Friday, April 29, 2005 when he started walking on his own in the carpeted floors of Unit 7228 of Legenda Suites in Upper Cubi, SBMA.  When we got home, he started walking on his own.  Here's proof.

A Subic Break

After a failed attempt to spend the day in Batangas, we headed off to Subic at the last minute on Friday.  Last minute means we made the reservations at 8:30 a.m. and checked in at 1:30 p.m.  We stayed at the Legenda Suites in Upper Cubi.  It was nice and the unit was bigger than what I expected.  We also spent some time in Dungaree Beach where the above pic was taken.  Next day, I went with Maxie to Zoobic where we used complimentary tickets given by Legenda.  After a leisurely drive back to Manila, we were home by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.  Tiring but fun!  For more pics of our Subic trip, click here.

Deconstructing Viola

April 28, 2005

So we’ve been fortunate enough to
have been awarded a house in the Diliman Campus. It’s Nanay’s old
house. It’s still in good shape but we’ve had to fix some things like
the roof over the garage where termites decided to live (and
EAT).  We’ve also made a few changes basically adding a new room
and a lanai - so we can enjoy the UP campus foliage.  For more
pics of the construction site, go here.

Holy Week 2005

March 29, 2005

Mommy and Daddy decided to stay in Manila for the Holy Week.  Too expensive (and maybe dangerous) to wander outside.  On Good Friday, we went to Ateneo de Manila to fly a kite (unsuccessfuly) and get Jeremy to walk.  Black Saturday was spent mostly at home.  For Easter, we went to 2 egg hunts — one at North Greenhills Ass’n and the other at Tito Dennis’ and Tita Grace’s home in Tierra Pura.  More pics here.

Maxie’s Graduation 2005

Okay.  It’s not her graduation.  The school calls it a “culminating activity.”  We’ve been going to one of these for the past 4 or 5 years already.  When will it end? For her part, Maxie had a great time.  For more pics, click here.

Maxie’s Clay Art

March 6, 2005

One morning about 2 weeks ago, Maxie woke up early and started playing with some clay given by her friend, Mika. Mommy and Daddy didn’t pay any attention and just went to sleep. She kept at it and until she made the pieces above. Dad was so excited about it, he took these pictures.

Jeremy and Cibo

Last Friday, Mom and Dad took me to Cibo in Greenhills.  To keep me busy while they talked, Dad handed me a focaccia (I thought it was just plain old toasted bread).  It was so yummy, I almost ate the whole thing.  At one point, Daddy took it away but I cried loud enough for the other people in the restaurant to hear, he gave it back immediately.  Yum!

Maxie’s ICA Doll

March 4, 2005

Mommy surprised me with a doll she had made. It’s wearing an ICA uniform that I’ll be using next year when I enter Grade 1. It’s nearly as cute as me!

Soul Food to Go

February 27, 2005

We don’t get out much.  But last Friday (during the EDSA Revolution holiday), we ignored the bomb threats and headed out to Greenbelt 3’s Soul Food.  The kids had a blast (as usual) and we walked around Greenbelt — something we haven’t done in years.  Stopped by a candle shop to buy Tito Bob a candle and bought Maxie some clay in NBS.

Kalbo!

February 20, 2005

While Daddy was out of town, Mommy had Jeremy’s head shaved clean.  Yikes!  He doesn’t care at all but we’re saving some money on shampoo.  More pictures here.

Jeremy Turns One!

January 30, 2005

Exactly one year ago, Daddy flew home from his exams to make it 7 hours before my early morning birth. Mommy couldn’t wait to see me and was relieved to be at the end of a difficult pregnancy (I’ve never given her an easy time anyway). Needless to say, one look at me and it was all worth it! After a brief moment of panic based on my first picture which showed me a little screwed up, they counted my fingers and toes and declared me perfect! i can’t believe it’s been a year already. I’m still not walking but I’m raring to try — I take my walker wherever they’d let me. My mom put together a great party in Greenhills at which I didn’t cry — not once! It was tiring but I had a lot of fun with my family and friends. For more pix of the festivities, click here.
